One-sentence conclusion: The content that will be cited by AI is the content that is “easily excerpted” - The conclusion is clear, has methods, sources and dates.
This article changes what the content should look like, but the direction of the change is not "write more", butWrite more extractable。
Phenomenon
Search is getting an additional entrance: users no longer just type keywords and browse ten results, but directly ask a question and then see who is cited in the answer.
For content creators, this means there is one more source of traffic and one more failure mode that is easily overlooked:If your text is spelled out in the browser using a script, the crawler will not be able to read it.
Most crawls will not execute scripts in the page. The text is filled in by the script, so what is captured is a blank.
Dismantling: Five practices, all on the same thing
There are five specific ways to achieve "extractability":
- One question and one answer structure - When retrieving answers, question and answer pairs are the easiest form to hit directly.
- A conclusion becomes an independent paragraph ——Don’t bury the conclusion in the middle of a long paragraph. Paragraphs that are too long will be difficult to extract accurately.
- Number with source, billing method and date - A traceable number is more likely to be cited because the person citing it also needs a source.
- Use terminology that customers will search for ——The customer searched for terms such as "AI billing unit", which is not your usual internal terminology.
Only by writing in external language can it be searched.
- Each article has a clear signature and update date - Content that is signed and timely is more likely to be accepted.
A reverse reminder
The most common mistake when pursuing “being cited” isQualifier。
For example, if a number comes from external data, it must be written as "from XX, not measured by Tunenomics". If this qualification was placed in a footnote, it would probably have been lost during the excerpt - the citation had left the number and the name of the institution, but the most critical statement was missing.
Countermeasure: Put the qualifier in the same sentence without footnotes. This excerpt will not fall off easily.
Conclusion
"Letting content be cited by AI" and "building verifiable trust" are the same thing at this level:
- Conclusions that can be reviewed have clear methods, sources and dates;
- Content with methods, sources, and dates is the easiest to quote.
Evidence is persuasion internally and traffic externally.
Boundary (under what circumstances does this article not hold)
- Being quoted does not mean being understood, nor does it mean bringing in customers. This layer only solves "being found", not "being selected".
- Question-and-answer and conclusion-style writing will sacrifice part of the narrative, and the long story-telling structure is not suitable for this article - both types of content have their own uses.
- This article does not predict the details of the crawling rules of any platform: the rules will change, and the three rules that can be established in the long term are "the text is readable, the conclusions are excerptable, and the numbers are traceable".
How can you verify it yourself?
Turn off JavaScript and scrape your own page. The text must be visible in its entirety.
Why should this item be listed separately: it is the only one that will be changed during the development process.Silent destructionrequest. When making a certain animation, you can easily change a piece of content to be rendered by a script. No problems will be seen on the page, and the inspection tool may not report an error - but what the crawler sees is blank. Therefore, it needs to become a check that will be automatically run every time a version is released, instead of waiting to see the traffic half a year later to find out.
