The hit rate is high, why is the bill still expensive?

Ratio is ratio, and money is "quantity × unit price". Using a ratio to judge whether it is expensive or not is going in the wrong direction.

One sentence conclusion: high hit rate does not mean cheap - rate is ratio, and money is quantity times unit price.

When seeing the words "90% of repeated content is remembered" (a schematic statement, not actual measurement by Tunenomics), many people's first reaction is "Then my cost should be very low." This inference skips a step: the ratio statementStructure, the bill isTotal amount. Two different things.

Phenomenon

In cost discussions, "ratio" is the most easily used indicator for conclusions. It looks professional, sounds convincing, and generally actually gets better.

But when looking at ratios and bills together, two puzzling situations often arise (the ratio figures below areIndicative, not actual measurement by Tunenomics):

  • Scenario 1: The ratio increased from 80% to 90%, but the bill went up instead.
  • Scenario 2: The ratio dropped from 90% to 85%, and the bill went down instead.

Disassembly

Neither situation is surprising because there is a "total" between the rate and the bill.

ObservationQuestions it answersQuestions it cannot answer
RatioHow much of it is reused?How big is the total amount itself?
Total amountHow many things happened in total?Is there any waste in the structure?
BillHow much did it cost in the end?Which aspect is most worth changing?
  • Scenario 1Reason for establishment: The total amount has increased. The ratio gets better, but the denominator rises faster, and the multiplied result still rises.
  • Scenario 2Reason for establishment: The total amount has dropped. The ratio dropped a bit, but the cost per call was suppressed elsewhere, and the bill followed.

So you cannot judge the bill by looking at any ratio alone. This is not "indicator failure", it is treating a structural indicator as a result indicator.

Conclusion

To judge whether it is expensive or not, the correct order is:

  1. See firstTotal amount(How much happened this month);
  2. Look againRatio(Has the structure improved?);
  3. Only when you look at the two together can you decide whether it is expensive or cheap.

If you must remember one sentence, it is the sentence at the beginning of this article: Rate is the ratio, and money is the quantity multiplied by the unit price.

Boundary (under what circumstances does this article not hold)

  • If the total amount remains basically unchanged during the observation period, then the change in the ratioThat’s itMain explanations for billing changes - ratios can be used as conclusions at this point.
  • The ratio itself is still a good indicator: it points to "how much repetition there is in the structure." What this article objects to is not the use of ratios;Only useRatio.
  • This article does not contain actual measured figures, nor does it give any specific margins.

How can you verify it yourself?

Take two monthsRatioandTotal amountLay them out side by side (not two separate pages, but side by side) and ask yourself: "What would the bill be if the ratio had not changed?" - the answer is often more informative than the ratio itself.
